why does my new headunit come with a connection to the parking brake? im looking through the manual but i dont see anything.

is it a DVD/LCD? it would be so that you can't play it when the car is in motion....

if it's not a dvd/lcd headunit, i have no clue... lol

well its a DVD player...but im using it for mp3...so...how do i get around that in case i want to hook up a screen one day?

JVC ADV6160 DVD/MP3 player

it will play but no pic will be displayed (on mine anyway) each brand has a diffrent way to trick it. mine the parking break just uses a ground so i hooked a constant ground to the wire and it will always play. the older alpines their is a 50 dollar box you can buy. on the new pioneers i hear it has a gyro so it can detect motion and wont play(that i dont know how to get around!!)

interesting, so if im not doing video right now should i just leave the wire alone?

yup.....that wire just controls the pic!! if you had a tv it would say some warning abt driving and watching tv. but since you dont it will work fine

that wire is basically like a ground wire. when you pull up your parking brake, a wire lead comes in contact with metal and it completes a circuit. that's how your parking brake light turns on. my pioneer avx-p7300dvd had a parking brake wire on it too. At first, it was spliced into the parking brake wire, but i took that out and used a ring terminal to permanently ground at a screw.

ok sweet, it worked, believe it or not, i normally have worse luck than that.

hoiwever, im about to call JVC because im pissed. this unit has a notable characteristic that the mp3 will RESTART when the car is shut off which is gay.

however i called JVC twice and got the same answer that so long as the DVD isnt burned into sep folders, meaning you just drag and drop the files onto the disc, it WONT do this.

however, sure enough, it restarts my song when the car is turned back on. normally i wouldnt care, but the damn thing is full of 1 hour songs, etc.

any ideas?

i just got off the phone with JVC they basically told me to **** myself. i have to call their HQ tommorrow.
