vac source for boost guage????

I have a mbc flowing like this: wastegate -->mbc--->intake mani and then a "t" for my boost guage between the mani and the mbc. Is this on the correct side of the mbc (intake side)?

I know people are using other vac sources (bb line, etc), but I was told specifically to use the wastegate one for the mbc by the manufacturer (which does indeed make sense to me).

I couldn't find my answer when I searched and this seems pretty straight forward (??)

the best place for a boost gauge is ALWAYS at the intake manifold, because it is the most relavent to what the engine is actually getting.

cool. you are confirming what made sense in my mind given the flow of pressure, etc. Otherwise, I guess I would be reading about people blowing turbo's and not blowing motors when boosting too much.

Thanks!

p.s. just took 'er for a test run, and holy s***. Smoked the tires in roll from first @ 7.5-8psi spiking at 9-10. Gotta be careful now; expensive tires ;).

try,"gotta be careful now......" expensive engine.

yeah,it has nothing to do with direction of flow.

it's that you loose boost on the way,in the intercooler,TB,ect...,and you can also read VAC there if your gauge allows it.

yeah, definitely "careful." I'm not a "young kid playin' doctor with my first fast car" so I'm hoping that experience will lay in my favor. Many are running 10 psi on stock internals, but 8 is pushing our luck in these cars imho, and that's the calculated risk I feel comfortable with.

you got it in the best spot.
only way to do it better is to tap a new hole for it.

BTW,there has been some guys here that have poped thier engine at stock boost.

no s***? *STOCK* boost?! Zoiks. Well, I guess I'm happy I got a good deal on the car, as well as a lot of equity in my house. Worse comes to worst then I'll just re-build with better components. *walks out to garage...thinks twice...walks back inside* (drive) . Your concern is both noted and appreicated. :)

yeah,I learned how weak the rods are the hard way,not anymore though=)

What mods were you guys running when it blew @ stock boost?

...and what did you guys do specifically to your engines after the rods went (as far as replacement components, porting, polishing, etc)?

From what I hear, you should run the wategate line seperately from everything else, just as a precaution. I am running my boost gauge off of a small U shaped line near the TB. When I get a MBC I'll just put it inline with the current wastegate line.
