"The black box that is on the Injen intake pipe right by the curve is called a MAF sensor. This detects the amount of air that passes by it, to let the engine konw how much fuel to add to get the right 'mixture.' When you put a blow-off valve after this sensor, you are releasing air that the engine thinks its getting because it has already passed the sensor. Imagine a slug of air. This slug gets sucked up by your intake and passes by the sensor. The sesor tells the engine.... yo, you are about to get 1 slug of air. Then you shift and the blow-off valve releases .. say 1/2 a slug of air. Then engine is expecting 1 slug of air because the MAF sensor said it was, but then it only gets 1/2 of a slug and it kinda chokes. Then the engine is all like.... yo' MAF.... why you lying to me man, then the MAF is all like, yo don't be a fool its that damn Greddy being greedy and takin all your air."
