Sweet! 1998 Protege5 concept car

Here's a pic of the original Protege5 concept design from 1998. Only a few of these were built for testing, but this design was never put into production. Apparently Mazda though it was too radical for the general public. It had a twin turbo and supercharged 2.3 liter V10 producing over 1000 hp at the front wheels while weighing about 2200 pounds. It could cover the 1/4 mile in under 8 seconds and reach a top speed of 227 mph while getting 48 mpg city.
