Anyone repaint the silver trim in the P5?
I have a nick on the center console. I've painted some plastic parts before but was wondering if anyone has any tips for these peices?

you gonna paint it the same color?

if you do. . ive found that seattle silver dubplicolor paint seems to be the closest match for the stock silver color

If you want to look at my dash at the next autox, I used Seattle Silver to repaint it, not a perfect match but decent.

To all of you who've painted the interior pieces, what method removes the stock silver the quickest/easiest? Have you tried a Dremel with brushes/fine grade sanding discs?

yeah, I guess I'll do it like I've done in the past. Sand it, primer with duplicolor bumper ant trim and then sand again and paint. I think I did 2 coats of primer and 3 coats of paint last time, sandingwith 1000 and then 2000. Seemed to do well. Guess there's only one way tofind out...

nomad, i do not think it would be necessary to use such a fine grit paper. i have had good results using 600. the paint is thick enough to cover the scratches left by the sandpaper. using 600 instead of 1000 will also be quicker than 1000. i have used this grit several times between my girlfriends p5 and my mp3 and have no complaints.

good luck!!!

What color car do you have. It changed the whole feel of my car when I painted mine red. Any autoparts store will have a chart to come close to your color by year and make.

My car is black mica I think, black with a slight metal flake.
I just figure I'll leave it silver or go with a slightly darker silver. My wife wants charcoal leather so maybe a dark silver would go real nicely.

this is sanding with 150 ans then painting so you dont have to smooth it that much

I used the ground coat color from dubplicolor and sand with 1000 or 1200 grit afer each coat till you have all bumps and s*** out then put clear on it, and the more coats of clear the better it looks. or just go to DGM's web page and buy carbonfiber parts that fit over almost everything.. www.dgmotorsports.com

I'm thinking I'm gonna do my whole panel in a gloss black. Too boring? I just have to do something because center console and shift plate are all scratched up, so I figured I'd paint them a differnt color while I was at it.

I was thinking of doing gloss black too, i think it will look great (black on black on black). So whoever does it first has to post pics. :)
