Its VHT red wrinkle paint after it dries and I get it on ill snap a pic. Anyone that has done this did you get a new gasket? None of the stores have them in stock 3 days to get 1 in (eek2) . Also polished the letters cant wait to get it on now all I need is a header.

i'm planning on doing the exact same thing. haven't been able to find any wrinkle red tho. i can find black everywhere. i'll have to look up the VHT stuff

MAKE SURE you also sand off the paint around the oil cap contact area. This way the oil won't seep out. how many miles's on your engine? If not that high, i think you can reuse the gasket. cause the gasket is pretty durable.

Yeh im going to sand of the paint around the oil cap. I found another gasket will be here at 6 and this stuff takes forever to dry.

Yeah they take forever to dry. I put mines in the oven in 300 degrees, and it still took 3 hours to fully dry.

Ok alrdy got me a new gasket :) . Alright after it turning out too wrinkly like i didnt want it too I got pissed a sandblasted it and started all over. So then I went and bought some hi heat VHT red caliper paint for my primer to lessen the coats of the wrinkle to cover. Did 2 light coats of wrinkle and turned out perfect but I still have to sand the letters more. While I was at it I put in some NGK Iridiums. One can is more then enough to let you know I didnt even use half.

looks pretty good.
could you get a pic from a distance...
I wanna see what the red looks like in a blue car

Thanks and Prodigy I would take that pic but im at work and when i get off it will be dark but ill get another one soon enough.

Not that bad but wasnt exactly how i wanted it lol. Its says throw down a heavy first coat on the can and 2 or 3 light coats but i think thats too much. The stuff is tough tho its a pain to sand blast.

There's no hurry. :)

My oil cap leaks a tad it did also before i painted it theres no paint on top but still leaks a tiny bit. The gasket on the cap is a POS its all stiff and doesnt work good. Any sugestions how much does the dealer want for a miata oil cap I wonder.

I've never used that paint before, but have always wanted to.... Is it pretty good stuff? I mean, as good as like the OEM covers that come like that?
