Well, I'm really too choked up by the details so I'll make it short. I blew a piston (same one as linux) through the block at the track today at Great Lakes. I was running 9 psi with a boost controller and shouldn't have been. I've been warned, been told and scolded, but thought that "just this once" I'd be ok. Wrong.

Well, speeding tickets didn't do it, friends getting killed didn't do it, and the sheer amount of money didn't phase me either - but this did. I'm settled on getting a new engine and getting out of the speedracer biz.

So, for anyone interested, the turbo and all important components thereof are completely intact - and all for sale pending removal from the car. If no one makes me an offer, it's going up on ebay. It's a Flyin' Miata Stage 1 Turbo Kit with all the latest updates - the ECU voltage clamp, the high pressure hose clamps, red powder coated pipes, the Garrett T3 turbochager, intercooler, fuel pressure regulator, and all the other goodies that come with it. I will likely need the money to pay for a new engine. I paid $3100 for the kit, it has 7,000 miles on it. I'm looking for $2,500 or best offer.

My speed bug has officially been cured. The Pikamobile has suffered enough. :( R.I.P. FS-DE

:'( :'( :'( :'( (sad2)

it ran a 15.4

You only paid $3100 for it? On there site now its listed at $3595. You got a good deal the 1st time. I would sure kike the turbo but Im a little unsure about buying a used one. Ill think about it.

Like I said, it only has less than 7000 miles on it. The turbo and all components are fine. I will include the boost controller, a GReddy Profec B for $300 more. I will sell the GReddy seperate for $350.

For a few details now that I'm feeling a little more sane - there is a hole about the size of a baseball in the rear of my engine block located near the oil filter. Shards of iron and aluminum were found bathing in oil all over the lower portion of my engine bay. From what we gather, the crank is warped, the heads are warped, the piston is completely shot and the rod is shattered. Fun.

it coasted to a 15.4 - the "kaboom" occured and i lost power a bit before the finish line. may have gone faster if all had run well? i don't know and can't say i much care. to compare, my best friend's protege5 ran a 17.5 on nothing but an intake and exhaust combo.

15.4 was the 1/4 mile time, not the psi

Due to the engine blowing before the finish.:( Must have been a big explosion to blow at 9 PSI. Engine management is definitely in my future.

it sucked bad

i was about three cars behind getting ready to go. i saw him take off and fly down the track. from my perspective everything was great. i saw 15.4 at about 83-90mph, and thought everything was cool. i thought he would at least pull a mid to high 14. i went and got back into my car without thinking twice.

i had my run, 17.519 at 77.95mph. slow compared to most!

when i got back down poor ken was frantic. he had said his car died. i thought well no problem maybe he blew his pipes or an oil line or his head gasket, not such a big deal. untill aric and i looked underneath the car and saw a gaping hole, and those very pieces above sitiing on the plastic next to his radiator. i knew then!

if i had the money i would buy it.

that really sucks man, dont really know what to say but, dont sell the turbo!!! you wont like your car stock i guarantee it! just dont be as (pardon my french) umm....uneducated next time and boost at a "safe" psi. i got my car bo0stin only at 4psi and loving it, i got a 15.3 best time at the 1/4 mile on fri and its fine with me. get the new engine, do the proper stuff to it, rods, pistons, head work so that you can run 9 psi safely then get back to the track and kick some ass. dont put her down just cause of a little mishap, fix her up and pound the s*** outta her again, just do it safely. but again, sorry to hear that, im definely not turning up the bo0st till i do engine work.
