Five years ago I took a trip to SF. I noticed this building that had twisted and weird looking furniture hanging out each of it's windows. Can anyone (local) tell me what that building is and why it's decorated like that? I'm just curious.. I thought it was cool..

its funny how people that lives close by frisco don't notice things like this and people out of town does. Sorry but I have not seen this place but will like to see it if anyone can let us know where exactly thing place it located at.

haha.. well i wish i knew what street it was on, but i forget.. i know it was within walking distance of the hotel i was staying at.. it was a nice hotel (work was paying for it).. we weren't to far from lombard street and maybe half hour tops to get to fisherman's wharf.. i do remember across from my hotel was some sort of cybercafe .. 5 years ago is a long time for me (uhm) .. i also know there was a good amount of graffiti around this building.. i've got pics of the graffiti too..

if you notice in one pic it looks like a pawnshop named "CAN-B LOANS" .. i looked that up at google and the address is 28 6th St.

(some pics,but not all:)

I believe that the building is off 6th and Bryant, I could be way off, haven't been there in a while. It's definitely in the Tenderloin, just can't remember the name of the building.

by the way, this is so true..I live in Baltimore and rarely take in the Inner Harbor or Fell's Point area, but people come from all over to visit those areas..

nope.. not 6th and bryant.. I used to work at an auto shop 1 block from 6th and bryant... nothing there but a few auto shops, and poliece head quarters... I think its a court too.

SF is a great city.. 18 years of my life there, and I didn't miss it until I left for college. Now every time I go back, I try to find a place in SF that I've never been to. Maybe I'll go on a hunt for that building when I get back.. in 2 weeks.

I live in San Jose, Ca about 45 mins to an hour away from Firsco. Im going there this Saturday to go fishing underneath Golden Gate bridge early in the morning and then eat clam chowder (one of the best place to clam chowder) at the pier where you can over view Alcatraz prison after I go fishing. If I see it I'll let you know.

That's the "Defenestration" building. mooS mooS was kinda close - it's at 6th and Howard in the SoMa (South of Market Street) district. It's an abandoned building that they turned into an art piece. IIRC, it was put up for sale, but I don't know if it sold or not.

as long as we're talking San Fran, I also saw this guys when I was there.. they moved like robots, and at times stood so still, you would think they were statues!

also attached are two more pics I found that I had of the Defenestration building.. and of course, guess what.. the two street signs are obvious in this pics..(wish I would have found them first)..

Thanks for the info guys!

Those guys are in front of Pier 39. They paint a lot of their skin. I also wonder if it was dangerous.

Some of them make MAD MONEY. I think it started with the gold or silver guy... now there are tons of them everywhere. I like the orange guy with the little plastic or glass ball. He throws it and catches it and balances it and does lot of circus type stuff.

Anybody ever seen 'bush man' by the wharf? He's awesome (cool)

i couldn't imagine getting all painted up like that day after day..
