Down Firing Subs

que pasa? I was considering makeing a fiberglass box that would go on the passenger side of the trunk in my p5 right where the set folds down and as far back as I would need to go for the needed air space. I want to do it that way so i could still get to my spare tire and kind of use the trunk. Anyways, could i have one speaker mounted the regular way and the other one mounted so that you could see the basket in the same box? Would my car handle funny with all that extra weight on one side? Is there a special way to wire the one sub with the basket showing so it hits right? How do I wire the sub with the basket showing look like there are no wires connected to it? Thats all the questions that i have for now. btw i have a pioneer deh-p80mp head unit(one of the nicest things that i have EVER owned) a rockford fosgate bd500.1 amp that puts out like 700 watts, and I want to get two 12" alpine type r.

from what it sounds like, you wanna standard mount 1 woofer and invert mount another. lemme tell you that there is NO way to wire an invert mounted woofer WITHOUT wires showing... best you can do is run wire from the woofer terminals into the box and out somewhere hidden. now, as per your wiring concern, you can wire them to a "push-pull" configuration. simply invert the polarity of one woofer (wire +s to -s and -s to +s). there is some debate over the efficiency of this setup, but that's a way to make it so that both are firing in the same direction...

1, yes you can have one regular mounted and one inverted.

2, does your car handle funny with just you on the driver's side? how about with a passenger? divide any effects by 2-4, depending on size of person and projected size of system.

3, just reverse the polarity of the inverted sub.

4, not possible.

If i invert the polarity of the inverted sub will i still be able to make both a 2 ohm load for my amp? oh and how close can the subs be together before they strat acting weird cause of the magnets. i know i ask alot of questions, my mom tells me that all the time

yup youll still get the same load if wired correctly but when ones pushing the others pulling cause its upsidedown so u dont get conflicting movements.

almost done now. Just need to know what kind of fabric i need to use to cover before i put more fiber glass down. when its all done i might paint it depends on i feel in a few days

I used fleece when i did mine. Its not too expensive, and get gray cause then u can see where u put resin.

so just go to the fabric store and ask for fleece like they used for those old navy sweaters a few years ago?

you can see where you put the resin regardless of color. i buy whatever's on clearance, which is usually old holiday prints.

go to walmart or a fabric store and tell them you need fleece. they'll know what you are talking about.

yea u use whatever color but i had a hard time telling. so i used gray. sorry should have mentioned that.

I ended up using some left over cheese cloth from when i was laying tile to cover the box. decided not to paint after laying down some bondo and remebering how much i HATE to sand so Im going to carpet it insted. so what color would you say the hatch area carpet is black or charcol?

The floor is black but the sides are charcole. Its a tough call and the photos online never look right.
