For those of us with clear lenses...

Hey, all

I don't know if this is common knowledge, but I found a way to get a nice clear lense look on our signals, etc. without sacrificing the orange bulbs...check it out here:

I'm going to try this out tonight...I'll post some pics of the results tomorrow or on the weekend.

that is pretty cool. Hides the ugly amber well from afar.

but up close you'll see a freaky silver bulb in there, lol

Why not just buy the Phillips SilverVision bulbs?
From what I read they are silver color but illuminate amber for the turn signals, and will fit our cars (confirmation anyone?). Seems a lot safer to have them amde this way rather than paint them. I was thinking about getting them in the future sometime.

Yeah, I saw the SilverVisions...I'm sure they are much better than the paint trick, but I also have no immediate source for the Silvers. I guess they're pretty expensive, too.

We'll see how this turns out.

Okay, I started this little project today...

The problem with owning a new car is that no parts stores know about any of the parts yet. I was only able to find the replacement bulbs for my front turn signals. I have to say, though...this is a nice simple mod that has great results. They look nice and clear from far and right up close, and they still light up a nice dark orange color. They aren't quite as bright as the stock (about 80% as bright), but I always thought those things were too bright to begin with.

Here's some before/after pics of my front turn signals (sorry, the pics are kind of crappy):

Before (ugly orange)

After (silvery goodness)

Can you tell me which brand and exact model number of paint did u use?\

if it's ok for u, can u try to post a pic with the orange signal on?

I took two pics...one before and one after (with the light on). I can't tell the difference between the two. If that's not enough of an answer, I can take another pic :)

The paint I used was a silver high-heat engine block paint they sold at the auto parts store. The can is at my parents' place, but I'm sure any high-heat silver would work...you're barely dusting the bulbs with paint...

Is that with the lights on? If so, I would say you used way too much paint...mine look exactly the same as they did before when they are on!

Lights off:

Lights on (signal light...clearance lights are about half as bright):
