MPI Tuner?

This was the first time for me with anything other than a Holley carb. when it came to tuning. However I had already played with boost pressure sensors and resistors so I had an idea of where I wanted to go with it. I still have yet to read the manual so I'm sure I have a long way to go to getting to the full potential of it.
thats what i will do first is read the manual you dont have extra injectors right

No extra injectors. I may have them this year though.

Kza- wanna bet? You will see nothing that looks modified, it looks completly stock.

The injectors will be mounted underneath the intake manifold behind the throttlebody, right next to the egr.

w

So blk blk zoom zoom you are tunning with stock injectors in the analog screen Hows that going It seems this is were a few guys have trouble tunning . I got some of the minor things out tonight like the seat and started on the center console Seat makes good for computer room . HA hahah Hers the wire under cup holder . When this comes in a will write a in depth write up.(yippy)

WOW..Thats pretty sick..I was confusing you with 505 thinking you had the MAM Tubular manifold, so I was like uhhhhhh yeaaa looks stock with that blinging manifold? hahah Anyway..Any concerns about fuel distribution having the injectors mounted like that?

So how do you control the MPI tuner with the MAP? Does this input replace an input orig. taken from the MAF? I don't care about 'stock feel' as you put it. I am getting mine with the turbo module, and sticking with the stock injectors. Nick said don't get the extra injectors now...and I am sure if he felt they were necessary he would try to sell me some.

If you want to keep stock feel, keep the mpi as timing controller and extra fuel injector without turbo module.

Analog input and output will clamp O2 signal, extra injectors will add fuel needed on boost and timing will control the retard.

Also I must suggest you a MAP sensor for boost reference.

I have unleashed a lot of potential on this unit, Im even running without MAF, everything is being controlled thru a 2.5bar map sensor.

I guarantee you that you will not have issues! I been without issues for long and boosted up to 15psi

At first I had some problems because I was trying to add too much fuel. Once you get past that and realize that our cars don't need much fuel added at any point well past 10psi it's much easier.

I dont know how the Mazdaspeed handles the TurboModule, but on N/A proteges, the turbo module is a very rough transitional unit...more like a nitrous shot on some ocasions.

Yes, I replaced the MAF. The conversion its frustrating because you have a lot of factors to take in account and worst than that, the 2.5bar Map sensor has a completely different readout than the MAF. Yes, both are 0-5v units but nowhere similar on voltage output.

Guess I will just keep the MAF in.....seems like a lot of work, congrats on getting that working!

As far as I understand its not truly neccesary to ditch the MAF for a MAP until you are running over 15psi...

sounds about right.
the only advantage of MAP is that it allows for any BOV setup....but under 15psi you should be recirculating so it doesn't matter. Once I get MPI I might try to find another valve to recirc other than the Type-S....I get mad turkey with this recirculating. Maybe a dual valve....I dunno yet. I just hate the turkey but like the feel of the engine while recirculating...so I want both if its out there. Tried dual valves....that eliminated the turkey but ran like hell.

Anyone know where we can get a base map for stock boost? I want to do one map for daily driving 6.5 psi not too agressive and good gas mileage. Then a second for a 9 psi agressive racing map.

thats correct...I wanted to start the tunning before the forged pistons and rods came in...think about it...new tunning, if something goes wrong by mistake, i will loose the $$ I just spent on them.

And let me tell you all, MAP is better over MAF for boost reference for cars that does not come factory turbocharged.

But overall in the Mazdaspeed, the MAF will be better!

depends on your setup....

Perrin exhaust, MAM tubular manifold, Turbohoses SMIC and hardpipes, Modified AEM ram-air intake. Don't think there is someone with a setup like me. That's why I need a base map to start with.
