My new exhaust set-up

My old OBX 2" muffler looked and sounded awesome, but it was just too loud for me to handle. So installed an OEM '01 Civic muffler. I've been meaning to post up about it earlier, but never got around to it. It still sounds sport, since the rest of my exhaust tubing, cat and resonator are still 2 pieces, but it's quieted right down. I know it seems counter productive to you, since I have some pretty lofty goals with this car, but don't worry, I'm installing one of these this spring...

I painted my muffler black though, just to add a touch of stealth...

Hey josh, do you think you lost any power with the muffler? Tip looks mighty small. You do know a 5 inch muffler tip gains you 20 whp, right? haha, just kidding with you. :) I guess you may not care if you lost a little, if you are getting the exhaust cut out.

Good to see you havent given up and bought a srt4 or evo or something. I havent seen you posting in a while, so started to worry. :) Everyone else is defecting to Dodge or Mitsu, it seems.

man that muff looks performance plus! LOL

with the qtec thingie, i reckon they would have been better designing it so when you open the butterfly, that's straight and the stock runner goes off on the angle.

If you run it open like that though, your going to lose too much torque..I can't imagine gaining anything at all with an exhaust like that..Maybe on a V8 or a boosted motor..but not on a 1.8L..alas..do what you will..

I definitely lost power with this muffler. It's 1 3/4" I.D.

As far as power gains with the cutout, it's hard to say. My exhaust was extremely free flowing as it was, but there will definitely be more power with it open then there will running through my resonator and muffler. Keep in mind, this isn't to make power, but to keep it quiet on the street, and allow me to open it up for the track.

By bypassing the resonator, 2 90 bends and the muffler, I'm going to guess 2 more hp at the wheels. So ya, I'm predicting 127whp with the cutout open, and 120whp with it closed.

Here's my old and new mufflers....
