well, it's been a long while since I shared in here....so thought I would bring some joy to my fellow MSP'ers for the holidays. I just picked this up off Ebay...the initial quality looks great....it's a 30" x 5.5" x 3" , with 2" inlets/outlets & three tabs that I had them weld along the top for mounting. My plan is to mount it along the underside of the bumper support, and do custom piping. I'm planning to do the cold side similar to the Ion design, and the hot side kind-of an amulgation between Ion's & Hiboost's design...when I finally get it done I'll show the final pics of course.

well..the IC was only $195, so I'm off to a good start. I have a good strategy for the plumbing, but I won't divulge until after the fact so that I don't get any hopes up!! Lets just say that semi-rigid flexible duct hosing comes in 2" sizes, and will make an excellent dye so the R&D is cheap!! ;)

oh..did I mention that this will match the opening PERFECTLY!! I can't wait to put this thing in!!!

Looks like a good core, but 2" inlet/outlet seems a bit small. I've got a few drawings of pipe routing I can send you if you want. I'm probably going make a custom kit this summer.

^^that's cool....I did my designs already, and know the routing path that I'm taking will work. I did my drawings in Paint (LOL)....kinda crude, but I did a top & front view, double checked all my measurements, and all looks good. I still need to wait to get the flexible stuff to map & create a template.

As for the 2"....the outlet on the turbo is 2" (at least I'm 90% sure it is), and cost is a consideration. Plus, I think at least one of the "kits" comes with 2" piping. Also, it'll be easier to route as the diameter won't be too big in certain tight areas.

good deal. in the next couple of weeks I need to measure everything w/ the car. so far I just have a bunch of sketches of possible routes, but no solid measurements.

iON's kit has 2.25" hot piping, maybe you're thinking of their kit?

2" is really good for up to around 300hp. Plus you get quicker spool, and it's easier to work with.

^^ahh....I knew I read about the 2" before. As for Ion's....that is a possibility that I'm thinking of that.

If you want I can try to find my sketches (think on my work comp) & shoot them over to you if you want....I thought about 3 or 4 different routes before I came up with mine.

Like I said before....cold side will mimic Ion's
Hot side goes like this (looking from front of car into engine bay):
Up out of Turbo, and bent to right -
Then over to right about 10 inches -
then straight down -
90 degree bend to left....follow along slightly behind & beneath radiator -
bend towards front of car....through wall right below the AC lines -
Into FMIC

The hot pipe is travelling towards the driver's side before it dips down and back over to the passenger side? Interesting. I'll scan my sketches in real quick.

yeah....like I said before...kinda Ion's & Hiboost's.

Picture fusing the beginning of Hiboost's w/ the end of Ion's

Here's a pic of the Hiboost hotside.

The red arrow would be where I'm going to go straight down.

The green arrow is where I'll have the 2nd half of the BPV attached. I'll cut my Injen piping for the BPV so that I can go from the cold side piping, near the TB, to the Intake.

ah ok. for some reason I just assumed you'd be mimicing iON's hot pipe route, that's why i was surprised lol.

I'm trying to design a route that allows me to replace the msp radiator with a fullsize unit.

^^I'm taking this into consideration too....this will allow me to keep the stock rad for now, and upgrade later if needs be since it doesn't have the piping pass through the stock intercooler location.

As for your pics...I did think of this way too....but if you look at where your 2nd 90 Deg. bend is (the coupler, on left) & where it would be running in the engine bay, you may have a hard time with the AC lines & the fan on the radiator. Ion's goes to left, then down between Turbo & AC lines, real close to fan, then left again before it turns to the front. I didn't like Ion's route because of the proximity to the fan, and the possibility of having to "bend" the AC lines.

Yea, its going to be tight for sure. Once I get some time to measure everything out it should be fine though. I'll probably have a 90o hose coming off the turbo to help with the clearance issues. I don't mind bending a few lines though and the fan won't be a problem as I'll be adding 2 FALs w/ the fullsize radiator.

The problem with running the hot pipe down between the rad and turbo is it'll pick up a lot of radiant heat. This kinda defeats the purpose of a FMIC. Unless you'll be wrapping the hot pipe with some header wrap or the stuff I used on my pipes(aluminium pipe wrap), it's better to go right like the hiboost/wagner kit.
