MSP Intercooler Pipes???

I'm getting a local guy to design and build hardpipes for my Mazdaspeed, so I thought I'd pass te info on to the rest of you. :) The pipes will be comprised of 2.5" stainless steel, or I have an option of going with aluminum. The pipes will be designed using a CAD program, so they will be professionally done, not just some backyard hack job. :) Everything will be mandrel bent and TIG welded.

I will be getting them done in the next few weeks. If anyone is interested in these pipes, and would like to see them, please let me know. I figured it will be a cheaper and local alternative, rather than having to order over the Internet.

On a similar note, the individual is also interested in building CAI for our cars, too. :)

Cheers.

Yeah, I hear ya. The problem with that is that because I drive my car all year-round, the winter season might cause a bit of corrosion on them. Thus, I will probably go with the SS.

Cheers.

I would think you'd be ok, especially if you went with aircraft aluminum. Stainless Steel is a good alternative though. What's the price difference?

Speed Esq: Care to spill your beans or is it top secret? Where? Who? How much?
Hmmm.. it's not necessarily top secret; however, I don't have the answers for all the questions just yet.

These will be produced in Winnipeg by a friend of mine who is a engineer. He will be using a CAD program, so the pipes will be designed in a computer, rather than just winging it. Thus, all pipes will be the same, they won't differ from vehicle to vehicle.

Not sure on the price as of yet. My car is the one being used to prototype the intercooler pipes, as well as an exhaust system. The process is supposed to commence this weekend. I'll keep you guys posted.

Sorry for the delay in response. :)

Cheers.

Hey guys!

I finally have an update on the intercooler hardpipes!!! - I've been super busy, as has the maufacturer. Nonetheless, after several hours, I finally have a pic of the near completed pipes! Enjoy! :)

All pipes are 2.5" stainless-steel, mandrel bent, and tig-welded. The grey pipe is my current CAI pipe; however, that is going to be cut and joined up with the intercooler pipe - Actually the MAF is going to connect the two. I'm also going to be using a 1G bpv from a 1st-generation Talon - It has a metal construction and will be more than sufficient at holding a moderate amount of boost. Lastly, I still have to order the silicon reducers and clamps for the hardpipes, as well as polish the pipes to a brilliant shine. :)

Cheers.

damn i really like that!!! $$$??
The cost was approximately $700 CDN. This included 2.5" SS piping (mandrel bent, of course

) , Three 4-ply silicon reducers (2.5" - 2"), several silicon couplers, and several t-clamps.
