No, that's what happens when you NEVER wash your vehicle. Vans, and SUVs, due to their poor aerodynamics, tend to collect every spec of dirt that is tossed up by the wheels.

You need to look closer the one right next to the 5 has the corner scuffed and dimpled. Also the Explorer in the background had a crushed and bent rear bumper.
