Car is off the road for a bit...

Long story short, I was driving with expired plates/sticker, so I got pulled over, ticketed and my plates were confiscated. I've been driving around in a car the Ministry considers 'unfit' and unplated, since I was in an accident last August, wrote it off(even though it doesn't look that bad), and started driving it again in February. I've been putting all my money into perfomance mods, since they're much more fun than actually fixing my front end and retitling the car. Anyways, while I pay my fines and put the car back on the road, I'll be walking. I have a B2200 I could drive, but I'm going to sell it to put towards to the car.

i say get it PnPd with some head action as well heh. i dunno what you have but why not now. what kinda of cash are you looking at and how bad is the damage?

It's not totalled at all. The accident was last August, the car was sitting til Feb, when I started driving it again. It had insurance too. The thing is, the insurance company decided it wasn't worth more than the $3500 in repairs it needed. So it was registered as 'unfit', and I bought it back of the insurance company as salvage, and decided to fix it myself. I was driving my B2200 around, but it just got too tempting to not drive the Protege. I should have fixed everything instead of spending the thousands I did on performance mods since Feb, but hey...that was no fun. I got away with it for a while, and I was going to leave it til winter, when I couldn't race the car(autoX or drag). But now I have no choice, I have to get my ass in gear and get it fixed. I won't be doing any performance mods, and I don't have to worry about headwork and such, since I have a spare engine anyway. After all the bolt-ons are done, I'm going to balance and blueprint the other engine, adding all the go fast goodies as I go. When that engine's done, I'll swap them.

Anyways, here's what $3500 in damage looks like. Can you believe it?

danm looks like a bad over bite. why dont you just fix the car cosmeticly and find another insurance company tell them you have protege youd like to insure.

I guess its the same way down here...In the U.S., or at least most states, a car with neeeded repairs due to an accident that are quoted at more than the overall appraised value issued by the insurance company...becomes the insurance companies property, and you get a check or can buy the car back for the appraised value...but has to go through a tedious process to be street legal again, which is all the R-title crap...Looks like you guys have a different method possibly...

You'll be alright though...just sucks you need to buy crap to make it legal for a bit, rather than making it faster...

I never took my stang off the road after it was totalled. Never changed anything about it. Took the cash minus the $300 salvage and bought another car and kept driving the stang-until I sold it for 1500. Which was 3 times what I paid for it. Don't forget the $1300 I got from the insurance company either....(rockon)

That's pretty much what happened to me. I took $3000, plus the car(bought back for $300, good thing they didn't know it was a GT. Their database says it's an 'S', whatever the hell that means). I should have had the car fixed myself with the cash, but I had just moved, and did some renovations before I moved in.

Ah, I don't care anyway. My fat ass needs some exercise, and if I didn't get my plates removed, I'd probably never get it fixed, because I obsess over performance parts.

Um for $3500 why not buy another 1993 protege and drop in the old engine... Trust me you can find one i have been looking...then u will have two spare motors. :D and more cash for mods to boot. Oh, btw i think i will eventually be goin the 1st gen route... i might do a BPT swap :D....but not for awhile...

It's not going to cost me $3500 to get the car fixed. I already have a parts car, which is also black, and it's only going to cost $500 to straighten the bumper, and $500 to retitle it. Besides....sure, I could find a 93 Protege in awesome shape, but it still won't be a 93 Protege GT, of which only 500 were made. There's a massive sentimental attachment to my car, and I wouldn't let him go for anything.
