Ok folks,

I need some help. The time for me to buy new wheels is rapidly approaching and, like many forum members in the past, I have narrowed it down to two
18 x 7.5" wheels. However, I just can't decide between them. So, I thought I would try to tap into the great resource of information and opinions that the Forums are to assist me in my struggle.

Ok, here are the contenders:

In the red corner... weighing in at right around 17 pounds a piece... with an offset of +40... the old faithful, tried and true and very pricey... Volk LE37T! (I would be purchasing the gunmetal on the left.)

In the blue corner... weighing in at a relatively hefty 22 pounds a piece... with an offset of +42... the more rarely seen and some what more conservatively priced... Work Emotion CR Kai! (I am going to try and get them in the WMB finish like the Meister SZ-R, but if not I would go with the gunmetal.

So there you have it. Those are the basics of the wheels. I lean towards the Works because of their price and the fact that they are more rarely seen. However, they are five pounds heavier than the Volks, so I'd be looking at an additional 20 pounds of unsprung weight. Additionally, to get them in the finish I want could push their price up even with the Volks.

Thus my indecision. Yes, it will be a few months before I will actually be purchasing them. But I would like to make the decision soon so I can start figuring what portion to budget towards them.

I welcome any and all advice, comments, hell even criticism you want to provide and please don't forget to vote.

Thanks,

Lang

Yeah, I thought the 40 mm they had listed on their web page sounded dangerously low for our cars. But, as we know Rishie, Natey, and several other members have or have had these in 18" without machining them. So, I'm guessing there must be other offsets available?

has to be and sorry but you would have to roll the fenders and i would be so careful with those rims esp in hawaii not the smoothest of roads. id fell more comfortable with rolled fender and 42mm which you could ahve machined.

No joke, the roads out here are vicious. Yeah, I will definitely be making sure that there will be no rubbing when these things go on. If I have to get them machined, so be it. My Konigs are the same size at +45 with no rubbing, so I might have to take it that far if the wheels base will allow.

here i attached them and yes my finger is pulling back a piece of the tire and thats dirt is rubber from the wheel well.

Yup, that looks familiar. My old Monte Carlo looked the same way when it decided to start biting it's own tires after I was stupid enough to remove the air shocks. lol.

We can get those volk's made in custom offsets. Rishie's were +48, and Natey's are +45 that he bought off another memeber on the forums.

The Emotions are nice, but as you stated, they are a heavy cast wheel.

Have you considered any other of Work's wheels?

Just get the Meister SZ-R and be done with it!
Thats what i want but I aint payin that much for a wheel!
Matt

Mine are +48. They originally came from Rishie. ;)

Those are both pretty expensive wheels. Have you looked at WEDSPORT wheels? They are also great looking, light & strong.

These are their latest wheel, the SA90.

We distribute the Meister s1 2 and 3 piece wheels exclusively to the USA.

However, we can get any Work wheel except for the Emotion CR, that is an exclusive to TODA.

It's the Work Meister S1. The Emotion CR is a cast wheel, not near the par of the LE which is a forged monoblock wheel. Not even a comparison.

Beware of offset. Contact me for additional info on any of these japanese wheels.
