I am looking for a good used manual transmission out of an '03 Protege or P5. I'd prefer to find one within reasonable driving distance of AL.

I prefer the Toyo Proxes 4's...great traction, especially in rain. I easily get 25K+ miles out of a set(but I do have my alignment setup as a plain Protege & my handling does not suffer). They are very quiet and ride well. The Toyo FZ4's are not bad either. No complaint about the NeoGen's...

If the mount is not completely broken(just cracked or split), I would recommend the inserts. Once the inserts are installed, the mount is not going to move. I have been running mine that way for years. I pulled the insert out and made sure the mount was unchanged at my last timing belt change...
