My only dislike is the AWD overheats too easily. It must run quite hot even on firm sand due to being engaged, soon as you hit soft your lucky if you get 15 metres and it drops to FWD. I advise against anyone taking it on the beach without a second vehicle.

I'm having a similar issue with my CX-5, if I take it offroad in soft sand it's only good for about 300 metres of sand and then the 4WD light starts flashing and drops to FWD. Trying to get it sorted with the dealership but seems to have gone cold on me.

I'd say an oil cooler or similar for the sealed AWD system in the rear diff to stop it from overheating in sandy conditions.

The awd doesn't appear to be very heat efficient at all, I get about 200-300 metres on soft beach acces sand (second gear less than 3k rpm) and the awd overheats and goes into fwd mode. Once on the beach driving just above watermark keeps it cool enough to not fail, but now less than 10 metres...

Has anyone taken their CX-5 in soft sand without any issues?

Has anyone put wheel spacers on their CX-5? If so can you please provide specs and link, pics would be great too.. Thanks
