Got a second opinion, the engine is fine. The second place I took it was voted number 1 mechanic by the city paper, and my roommate said he had a good experience there so I'm glad I took it to him. I'll be getting a tune up, new belts, tires, radiator flush, etc. and should be good to go...

Well, I can still start the car, so maybe it wasn't so bad. The mechanic said it runs ten times hotter than normal now, and seemed pessimistic in his outlook on having it fixed, but he also kept offering to buy it from me, which made me distrust him, he seemed a little too eager to buy it off...

Can a repaired engine ever run 100% again? Should I just get a new engine? I was looking at new cars and since it isn't running they were only offering me like 500 bucks for the car!

I got my Protege5 two weeks ago for 7K, it had 86K miles on it but otherwise very clean and excellent condition.(stoned)
