What have you done to your CX-5 today?

They didn’t add something like a piece of trim over the cut plastic? Thought they’d do something like a thin u-channel strip of black plastic or something to hide the toolmarks on the bumper.

2013~2016 Replacing CX-5 Driver and Passenger side mirrors

I had really good luck years ago using an aftermarket tail light on my focus when the original cracked. Couldn’t discern any difference in the quality of the assembly vs OEM. I also had an ok experience using an aftermarket eBay grill on my ‘23 CX-5. The appearance from a couple feet way looks...

    Brakes Need Work Again

You should be fine, yeah. The pads and rotors are fine to put back on after you’ve cleaned the hub and lubed the sliding pins. Any salt on the roads where you live? Only trouble you might have is the pad hardware but that’s probably still ok after a couple of years. I’m not in an area where...

Grounding Cylinder Head Test Results (2024 CX-5 Turbo)

To be fair, I did take what I think was a hilarious tangent on the previous page of the thread. Got that social misstep out of the way prior to a major critical design review at work this week 😂 We eventually got there when I suggested if it could be items like the headlights being on. Keep at...

Grounding Cylinder Head Test Results (2024 CX-5 Turbo)

Hah, I think you did! I had the same questions and conclusions. Never thought too hard about it until I stumbled on this thread. For your next trick, you could try to explain the difference between ground and grounding to a retired EE :D I’m revoking my internet license thru the end of the week.

Grounding Cylinder Head Test Results (2024 CX-5 Turbo)

My apologies! This is what happens when you get a physics BA that had more foreign language requirements than electrical instruction, AND you don’t know your audience 😂 I hope my response wasn’t too dumbed down or offensive in an attempt to make this as accessible as possible. Resetting. I’m...

Grounding Cylinder Head Test Results (2024 CX-5 Turbo)

It’s part of the circuit and yes, technically that means it’s live. It doesn’t shock you though if you touch it. The chassis should have no difference in potential with respect to you. Even if you touch the positive terminal on a battery (don’t try it!) you still don’t get shocked unless you...

Grounding Cylinder Head Test Results (2024 CX-5 Turbo)

Ground can be a confusing term. In this case it’s not the scenario where you are “grounding” something like a home appliance to a ground rod. The ground straps are using the vehicle chassis to complete the circuit back to the negative terminal on the battery. You’ll see amperage across ground...

Grounding Cylinder Head Test Results (2024 CX-5 Turbo)

I had a similar concern as well (ground loops). The kit shared earlier in the thread with that spider/star pattern design must have been wired that way to prevent that from occurring.

2016 CX-5 hatch rattle; nut size needed

I wouldn’t as long as the lock nut was snug. You’re good to go.

Am I the only one happy with the OEM Toyo A36 Tires?

My stock Toyo A36s held up well sound and handling wise. Never got louder, just didn’t last too long against other options on the market. I replaced them today with 29,500 miles of use. There was still at least 5/32nd of tread on the inner and outer portion of the tread, but it was nearing the...

    Brakes Need Work Again

Shoot, it’s going to vary between pad manufacturers and vehicle makes. Need to do whatever they suggest or makes your comfortable.

    Brakes Need Work Again

You’ve got this! It was pretty satisfying getting rid of a shimmy on my new to me Titan. One of the caliper pins on the front wheel was bone dry. Pads appeared to be metallic brakes plus style cheapo material. Rotors were likely original. Brand new Raybestos element three pads and rotors all...

    Brakes Need Work Again

Do you have any long downhill descents? Folks tear their brakes up big time on our small mountain. You can often smell hot brakes at the bottom from being dragged the whole way down without downshifting. That’ll screw rotors up and can cause a shudder. As Baron suggested, it can be compounded by...
