Just scuff up the chrome one and paint it black if that all they have to offer. Then slap some clear bra over it to protect it. Just an idea if they don't have black bars. Do some more homework. I'm sure there are other places out there that might have the black bar option.

Sounds like it could be your sliders? You put it into gear smoothly with no sound versus shifting a little bit quicker into gear and a click. Sounds like a possible slider problem. Check the alignment of the forks as well. Good luck.
