'Dry start' - rattle on startup

My 2002 has been doing this since I got it at 50K miles and I use Mazda filters and Mobile 1 10W-30. At 88K miles, still dosen't use oil. I wouldn't worry.

    stock shifter question w/ pics

I clamped the shifter in my vice (removed from the car) and used a propane torch and a big screwdriver through the bottom. Applied a twisting force while heating it up and it finally gave away. I knew I was taking a risk, but I did have the TWM in my car at the time. Cleaned most of the sealer...

Well, after removing the tip, it just didn't look right, Ideally I would have butt welded a 2 1/4 OD pipe all the way back, but its stepped down to 2 1/8" (slipped right in and maintained the alignment) and the "taper" was noticeable, so the blackout was a compromise. I had to have this removed...

Let an old man weigh in After getting my 2002, I got stupid and discovered all the cool aftermarket stuff and decided on the Tanabe Medallion Touring even though its a little pricey ($360). I liked the idea of low noise and ease of install as I didn't want to mess with a cat back. The photo on...

    stock shifter question w/ pics

I shortened mine somewhat like this, however it was removed from the car. The joint that is heated is made with something like 3M 5200 polyurethane sealer (for boats) that gives a good bond yet gives additional viboration isolation. I thought the rod by itself would be a little too short, so I...

    Stock rims tire options

I got my car one year ago and I was happy that the tires were close to new, however, soon after realized they were 205-45s, so I was a little bummed (prefer stock sizes). Did a little research and determined that my speedo should read about +2.5 mph at highway speeds. Took my gps for a ride and...
