While changing oil, I decided to tackle the spark plugs. Our 2007 is at 102350 miles. The plug gaps had eroded down to almost double the factory spec. But besides being worn the plugs showed normal wear, so that was a plus. Thanks to everyone who helped with this thread, it helped! I'm glad...
It's easier to replace the control arm. I ordered a complete arm with ball joint off of Ebay for $82 shipped. The lower control arm is compatible with the Ford Edge/Lincoln MXX.
Just to Update. did the front KYB GR-2 and had the alignment checked out and set. Did a drive from Ohio to South Carolina, and the ride thru the Appalachian Mtns was stellar. The suspension would settle immediately after hitting a mid corner bump at 70 MPH while traveling the West Virginia...
Completed rear KYB gr-2 install. Thanks for the tips provided. It took about 4 hours, but some of that time was cleaning/vacuuming under the third row seats, which I took out. We replaced the rears at 82k, ride is much improved since the stock shocks were worn out. I'll replace the front...
There is a wire loom covered by a rubber boot. You can see it when the battery is removed. I used a coat hanger to poke thru it with the wire attached.
Has anyone seen the roof rack Mazda Austraila offers?

I've seen them listed on ebay for about $200, seemed cheaper than having to buy the roof rack and crossbars, which I would need to do.
