Hey guys, what's your opinion on the best oil and filters to use on the P5? Are K&N filters worth the extra money?

I have a 2003 Mazda Protege5, and I I saw the topic floating around from a few years ago, but nothing conclusive. Does anyone know if there is a supposed to be a flap or not? Thanks!
