Impressions and comparison after a week with my rav4.

Take it over some rougher roads if you are still considering the rav. The biggest complaint of most rav owners is it can be rough over some roads. And I agree but it's fine for me. May not be for some. The cx5 was a bit smoother over rough terrain. If you scour the rav4 forums though, there are...

Hasn't let me down in any way shape or form. Love it!!! Loved my cx5 too though. Glad my old thread has been so entertaining. Miss the cx5 for some things, but the rav is the better vehicle for me. If the cx5 wasn't a dud though, and mazda was prepared to help, I'd still have it. The rav is an...

Stuck in snow with AWD & winter tyres or icy streets

Yeah, you're on glare ice under all that. Not much chance. Don't fault the car under those circumstances.

Stuck in snow with AWD & winter tyres or icy streets

He said some drifts were knee high. Going up the driveway( up being the key word) in snow higher than ground clearance with ice underneath is no surprise it was difficult. But again , I think turning off tcs would help. He said they got 25 cm of snow, almost 10". Obviously that isn't perfectly...

Stuck in snow with AWD & winter tyres or icy streets

I wouldn't worry about it. If it was glare ice underneath and that much snow it's no surprise. Maybe turning off traction control might have helped though. When you are stuck always turn off traction control to get out. In fact you may have had no problem at all with it off, but who knows.

I was thinking the rav felt more solid with less rattles(none at all yet actually)but I assumed it was because I had 18k on the cx5 and had rattled things loose already on our crappy roads. Rattles drive me nuts.

It's funny because I actually like the back end. The tail lights remind me of the sportage which Im also a fan of. I find the side profile of the rav a bit dull and really like the front end. The xle rims(the ones in the above photo) I actually like too for the mid level rims. I've seen a lot of...

Well, I guess since my cx5 was built before the kick down switch was implemented( or at least before it was made to be felt) I can't really comment on that. Regardless, I just never liked how the car responded. Be that a combination of the 2.0 and pre kick down switch or what, it doesn't really...

Isn't the kick down switch for maximum acceleration though? The "apples to apples" cross shopping the rav xle would be the cx5 touring( or gs in canada). I didn't go for the limited either because of the lift gate and the rough ride. Apparently lots of people are having the power lift gate...

I can relate to what everyone is saying about the cx5 throttle responding to quick input, but to me this isn't a benefit. I dont see how adding a second variable input to the same output gives more control. A gas pedal has one function. To accelerate. A "normal" car accelerates relatively...

It's hard to compare because I went from the bose system in the cx5 to the middle of the road system in the rav. But I'll do my best. Honestly, I love a good system and I was pretty content with the bose, even though I HATE bose home audio. The cx5 bose was really good for a system without a...

Congrats on all of your new cars. lol Yeah, the interior really grows on you for the rav. It's just different because it's situated more horizontal instead of the vertical center stack most cars have for everything. The 14's have satellite in the xle, not sure about the le, but my xle has...

That is not the problem we are speaking of. The car sputters and wants to stall for the people with this issue. It is not the normal catalytic converter warm up. Mine actually was stalling frequently. Search for the thread if you want to learn more. I love driving manual. But at 40 years old...
