    P5 5th gear swap

Not in here a lot anymore, but just saw this. Look up the Malaysian guy with the turbocharged Ford Tierra. KasmanK, I think was his handle. They only sold the FS-DE there with the four-speed automatic, so when he turbocharged his car, he swapped the box out completely for a 626 box. Worked just...

    Integral Cams Install

If I recall correctly, we had to do lash, too.

    Propane (LPG) Conversion!

The problem is, most people don't take the time to run their stock gasoline system. They turn on the car and switch right away. It's not good for the injectors. Hell... I actually had to replace my fuel pump assembly (not the pump) because I didn't bother to add gas to the tank every now and...

Why so much hype about Mazda2 weight?

Been there, done that a few times. Good thing I've got media creds, otherwise I wouldn't get any test drives at all. (evil) The Fit is absolutely the most practical car you can get in this size range. But it just doesn't drive anywhere near as fun as the Mazda2. Not that impressed with the 2's...

Why so much hype about Mazda2 weight?

The Yaris is a last-generation product with less boot space. The old Rio and Accent are two generations behind compared to the Mazda2, and have even less boot space as well as bugger-all rear legroom. The Mazda2 manages to be lighter, while being structurally more rigid thanks to the use of...

    P5 5th gear swap

The NSN / 626 5th gear swap can supposedly be done without pulling down the transmission.

    P5 5th gear swap

Personally, I've always been of the opinion that the 626 transmission is sturdier... but... my 626 wasn't abused to hell like my Proty. Still... my brother did play at the drag races with it, so it wasn't exactly babied. I never had problems with crunching synchros on the 626, and having the...

    P5 5th gear swap

Don't know how he did it... but it should mate up. A mate used a 626 block as a replacement block when a connecting rod poked a hole in his stock block.

    P5 5th gear swap

Silly me... forgot the Malaysian guy. If I recall right, he was also on this board selling cam-gears. He had a 300 whp turbo FS-DE, but since they didn't get the manual car in Malaysia, he sourced a 626 manual gearbox for his car. Yup... bolted right up.

    P5 5th gear swap

As far as I know, the NSN swap was simply a repackaged 626 5th gear. Would be nice to get the whole 626 thing for a turbo car... because the 626 also had a longer final drive ratio. Don't know if it'll fit, though.

    N/A Project Inquiries

The one bolt-on that makes big power is a computer. I would skip the MP3 ECU and go straight for a piggyback that can do timing and fuel. Unfortunately, support there on the ground is not good, but the Unichip for the MSP bolts right up. Find a decent shop that reprograms Unichips (there are a...

    Integral Cams Install

If nobody's replied on the 2.5s, with the 2s you get about 15 whp more at the top end versus JDM cams (my stock cams... both dynotuned), with a little loss in the bottom end. As compared to US-spec cams, I can't say, but I venture you could see between 15-20 whp depending on mods. I used cam...

    2011 Mazda2 1.5 l Any Turbo Kits? What's recommended?

The 4-speed probably won't hold too much torque, but it should be good at low power levels... I know some owners with turbocharged 1.5s (not Mazda2s, but similar), where the tranny holds at about 130-140 whp. Good enough to have fun with in a car this small. But you DEFINITELY want to add a...

    Would you buy a MAZDASPEED2?

Oh, I agree... in their current form, the Fit and Mazda2 don't really count as "hot", but with their size, just 150 hp should give them enough pep to qualify. Remember, a Mazda2 is about 2/3rds of the weight of a top-of-the-line "compact" (a word that seems silly to append to some of these cars...
