Considering typical turbo compression ratios on ACTUAL turbo motors is usually 8.5 or LESS..... probably a bad idea. The ms3 and diesels being notable exceptions.

Timing chain tensioner? Mazda has a habit of making those bad, causing the noise you mention. Happens to my ms3, there's a TSB for it.

I've seen 245/40/18 on rx8 wheels (which IIRC are damn close to the size you're looking for, save offset) and they look beefy as hell. I wouldn't go anymore though, or you're going to rub like WHOA under load, even on stock and NOT blown suspension.

225/40 should fit, that's about the widest i'd go on a stock tire, or your contact patch is gonna be all stupid and lame.

Hm, haven't tried that yet. Though, the car has nearly 50k on it, and driving a comparable 09 ms3, my brakes did feel squishy in comparison, so I'm almost wondering if my rear pads aren't shot and it hangs once in a while. Might as well use it as an excuse to upgrade.

Welp, went to autozone, got the code pulled. Threw a lean idle code at me. Tells me that the car might finally be angry with my IM. Or possible vac leak.
