I found the answer to this and I posted it in another thread. It was the TPS, not the VSS. If you're interested, just look up my postings and you will find it.

I took the VSS from one of my good cars and put it in the bad car. No noticeable effect. Then I put the VSS from the bad car in the good car. The good car stayed good. I think this rules out the VSS.

With a lot of searching, more than I care to admit to, I've seen a lot of speculative suggestions, but I have yet to see a bona fide reported solution, where someone says: "I did this, and it solved the problem."

I'm not seeing any weirdness on the speedometer, so, I don't know. But as soon as I get a hold of a spare, I'll swap the Vehicle speed sensor VSS, if only just to rule it out as the fault. Along the same line of reasoning of the TCM getting wrong data, I am also suspecting the Throttle Position...
