Hey guys. I just replaced my drive-belts on my Protege and have news to report: My idle has SMOOTHENED UP noticeably! I also did change a dirty air filter at the same time but it was replaced 6 months ago when diagnosing and repairing the rough idle. The alt/WP belt was completely toast after...
I removed the IAC electrical solenoid assembly from the IAC core last month and inspected it. The IAC solenoid plunger was literally sticking in carbon buildup on the IAC mount. The (2) T-25 Tamper-proof screws were easy to remove after spraying with DeepCreep. Cleaned the solenoid plunger...
Yep. No problem. Things are still very smooth. Your board has helped me diagnose and repair the rough idle and ATX issues with my Protege. Something to give back to you 'al!
Bumper cover is relatively "easy" to remove and reinstall w/o any fancy tools or a lot of space. The top of the bumper cover is aligned/fastened to (2) flimsy pieces of steel welded above the reinforcement. It is probably very bent on the left-side as you described. If the main reinforcement...
Thanks Zero. Without going off-topic too much, I did FI bottle, EGR, plugs and I need to SeaFoam spray my TB. Hopefully that 'll settle her. The mounts don't look too bad after 67K miles. I'll check 'em more closely this weekend.
I didn't want to start a new thread on this topic... so good opportunity to chime in. My engine/powertain is shaking slightly and is being transmitted to the passenger compartment via the wheel and body. I guess time to check mounts. Which one's are the culprits? What's the easiest way to...
Just thought I'd lend my 2 cents. Thanks to ALL you guys for helping me resolve and repair my rough/rolling/dipping idle issue!! Here was my problem:
1) Rough standstill idle -- needle hovered up/down 50 RPM from 700
2) Occasionally wanted to stall after a warm start -- RPM dipped to 500
3)...
No stress people! I had the same problem last year. My car has been hit from behind a couple times -- with only minor damage! Replaced the bumper cover and energy-absorbing foam part on first repair. Replaced only the foam part the second time.
1) Here's what I found: There was a small...
I got DTC P0745 and a blinking O/D light with rough shifts with my ATX. Ordered: pressure control solenoid (EPC) and trans filter (about $110).
Removed the driver's side belly cover and dropped the trans pan and there were ALL the solenoids staring at me and easily serviceable -- without...
