same thing happened to me. I kept the old one until the new one arrived....got it installed and the thing looked like crap...must have been refurbished. They are ordering another new one, so hopefully this is actually NEW.

Through Magnaflow's website, there was a link to www.fle-online.com, which had 53006 for $53.75.

I am tempted, although I'm not sure I'll need it. It's $40 more than the 53000 cat.

All I meant was that if you're choosing a cat that can handle much more flow than the original, it is in effect, hi-flow. I'm sure there's also variation in performance for a given size, but I'd expect Magnaflow to be biased towards performance. For what it's worth, Magnaflow's website states...

Yep, I'm looking at Magnaflow 53006, which is a 2.5" 3-way that covers up to 4.2L engine/4250 lbs. I think the "hi-flow" description refers to how much engine displacment that can be accommodated....so since this one is up to 4.2L, it should work well for a 2.0L turbo.

I'm looking for a 2.5" cat too. Just spent some time on car sound's site. They only mention ceramic honeycomb, so I think that's what is used in all of their cats. Has anyone else heard that metallic is better? (and why) Looks like the 53000 series is the right one (3-way)....do you agree...

This is what so many people, including me, have been looking for. But, I'm not sure I want to buy one until I get some positive feedback from others that have it or have seen it.

Did you do a post-weld heat treat to bring get the material strength and hardness?

Thanks. Would you recommend it? I think having a hi-flow cat must only be a small performance hit compared to the no-cat system. Anyone have dyno numbers for these systems?
