    Konis Only - Worth It?

Thanks for the input, guys. Looks like it's time to call The Tire Rack!

    Konis Only - Worth It?

My MS3 is both a daily driver and autocrosser. I want to stay in D/Stock, so I'm limited on mods. The logical next step would be to install a set of the Koni dampers, but I'm wondering how much of an improvement they are over stock and how they change the ride quality. I'm used to slapping...

    Autocross Tires

There's also the Dunlop DiRezza Star Specs in that class. I used them last summer for a daily driver/autocross tire and was very impressed. No problems on the street and a championship on the track. Can't beat that!

From the access road at the end of the runway, IIRC. There's a little hill (with a little cemetery) across the road. I'm the exception that proved the rule that weekend, I guess. (dunno) We definitely learned some things with regard to airport course setup for next year.

Thanks, although I can't take credit - our RE is the photographer in the bunch. The airport is the Randolph County airport outside of Elkins, WV. No commercial traffic and car guys in the administration means lots of room to play: This was our first time there, but I'm certain we'll be back...

A couple of nice action shots from our airport event last weekend. I didn't drive well, but it looked OK!(nana) More pix here.

    Auto X

I usually start out at 42 F / 37 R and tweak from there. But I don't like the rear end to be as loose as lots of people do.

    Would these fit the MS3

Good, now I've got an excuse if you beat me this weekend! (second)

Autocross: Stock tires vs. *real* street tires

Yup, a couple of times. I didn't think they were grippier in the wet, but they were pretty good. The Dunlops are better, tho'.

Autocross: Stock tires vs. *real* street tires

I switched to the Direzza Star Spec's a few months ago from the OEM Bridgestones. The Dunlops are noticeably grippier, but not by a huge amount. And they're still not r-compounds. I wouldn't junk the OEMs for new "street" tires until you've worn 'em out, which won't take long, anyway.

MS3 Auto-X class with Forge BPV

You don't need a trailer, really. I ran R-comps with an Escort, a B15 Sentra, and an EP3 Civic hatch and they could all handle an extra set of tires without a trailer. Especially with the hatch and the back seat down, it wouldn't be a problem in the MS3. As for swapping tires - amen, brother...

    ms3 stock tire size..little options

When I ordered new tires from TireRack, the guy there explained that the 225/40s would ride more harshly and perhaps mess with the ABS operation, compared to 225/45. He recommended the 40s for autocross only (more responsive), but the 45s for daily driving/autoX. So I went with the...

    Any Speed3 Auto-X'ers

I'm sticking with D/S, so I'm still on the OEM wheels. A couple of weeks ago, I got a new set of Dunlop Direzza Z-1s (225/45/18), and they've done very well in the two events I've had since (one wet, one dry). About $50/tire cheaper than the hot Bridgestones, too.

    Pro kit/Bilsteins....56k?

What are the part numbers on the Bilsteins? When I search their site all I find for our car (or regular 3s) are sets of rears. (dunno) Thanks,

What do YOU take with you to autocross?

I've got a Tupperware box that I keep a lot of AutoX toys in - breaker bar, socket set, Windex, etc. - that I just load in the morning of an event and unload at the end of the day. It's an easy way to keep things organized. Second (or third) what people have said about sunscreen, a hat, and...
