    Problem Identified? (P0172)

That's an excellent description of why the voltage clamp was developed. With the addition of the clamp that problem goes away. Is monkeying with the fuel pressure the ideal solution? No. Is it appropriate and safe for lower-boost setups on a budget? Yes. Keith Flyin' Miata

    Problem Identified? (P0172)

Okay, I'm back from vacation. Sounds as if you made some decent progress between the time you pinged me and now. If your base fuel pressure was set too high, it means that your car would be running rich all the time. The ECU would be able to compensate for this in closed-loop operation which...

Still going lean with FM clamp

Saving money doesn't always mean you're "going cheep" (sic). The expensive O2 sensor from Mazda is not a magic unit. It simply has a proprietary connector. The quality of the signal will be no different than any other heated O2 sensor. The only difference between all the various narrowband O2...

Still going lean with FM clamp

The clamp restricts the maximum voltage passed through. For example, if the O2 sensor is returning 0.9v (rich!), the clamp will only allow 0.365v to get through. However, if the O2 sensor is returning 0.2v, then 0.2v will be passed through. Remember that the clamp only activates under boost. So...

Still going lean with FM clamp

I'm only going to post this in one of the (at least) three threads currently going on about this. CALL US. That's how we like to support our products. You're either going to have to send the unit back to us so we can check it, or you're going to have to do some troubleshooting with a...

Still going lean with FM clamp

Here's how it works. The clamp itself will limit the upper voltage that will get passed through to the ECU. It doesn't matter if the true voltage is 0.9v or 0.6, the clamp will pass through 0.39v (or wherever it happens to be set). We don't set it right for stoich because we'd prefer to have...

    Laguna Seca Pics

Thanks for letting me drive your car, Natey! We did wake up the RX-7, didn't we? :D The stock GTX was fun to drive too. That was a fun weekend. I got the call to go out and instruct on Thursday afternoon so it was also a little hectic. I don't regret it at all... Keith

Anyone have more specs on the MSM?

Yup, there's more to life than hp. Handling is the fun part. I don't really have much of an opinion on the handing abilities of stock Miatas - I almost never get to drive them that way! MAZDAKINDAGUY03, if you're beating Mustangs with a stock MSM then either they haven't noticed you're racing...

Anyone have more specs on the MSM?

Yes, the Miata and the Protege use the same plugs. We tested Densos some time ago and found that they basically made no difference. You can wire just about any ECU into any car. It's all about how much effort you want to put into it. Keith Flyin' Miata
