CX-9 here. I switch around and make sure I'm running premium when I plan on long highway trips. There's a noticeable difference at the top end. If you're pulling out to pass in heavy traffic at highway speeds, 87 Octane is not the fuel you want to be burning.

No mods. Oil changes are a combination of myself and the dealer. The major service intervals are handled by the dealer and I do the easy ones. The car sees a mix of city and highway driving, and any idling is generally while stuck in traffic.

I have a 2018 Mazda6 signature with about 52k miles. I'm starting to see increased oil consumption. It went from consuming about a quart every 5k miles to consuming a quart every 2k miles. Anyone else experiencing this? If so, what was the cause? Thanks.

That's what I figured. I expect the light to go off in the middle of nowhere on the highway. If that happens, I'll just take a picture of the instrument panel, pull the code with the bluetooth reader I have, and top it off. If I'm in town, I'll drive over with the light on.

Maybe this is a dumb question, but what does the software update option do in the settings if it's not automatically updating the firmware? Does anyone know because I've never seen an update applied and I've had my car almost 2 years.

I have exactly the same thing on my 2018 Signature. Looks like it's been going on for a couple of days. The leak seems to be slow, as I had to add less than a quart of antifreeze. I'm approaching 45k miles. Did you ever find out what the cause was? I'd like to have an idea before I take it in.
