Has anyone out there done a transplant of a 4 cylinder auto into a car of about the same year that was originaly equiped with a V6 5 speed or visa-versa?

What is involved in a 5 speed swap? I have a car set up for a 5 speed v6 and have a wrecked 4 cylinder auto with low miles to do a transplant, but would love to keep it a 5 speed.

Could the problem be that it sat for a long time (maybe a year) with an empty tank and now the float for the gauge is stuck?
