I've owned my 8 for a year and a half now and I honestly STILL get cravings to drive it. The suspension on it is unbelievable. Add in stiff ass anti-sway bars and some stiffer springs..... SOOO much fun. If you've got the cash for coil overs..... <drool>
And PS.... how anyone pulls 25 mpg, I...
I pulled my tail light off, blew a heat gun through the bulb holes over and over to get rid of every last drop of condensation, then used Mazdas new gasket. Haven't had a problem since.
They refused the warranty work on it though. So I had to pay for the part.
Over 30k miles on my 8 and not a single issue. I use full synthetic oil that gets changed every 3k miles without fail. I can usually go without adding oil at all. Oil level is probably a little high when changed, then a little low when it's time to change again.... but just to give you an idea...
Best upgrade I did was Progressive front and sway bars. Instant and obvious improvement in the turns. And an improvement to the RX8's already notable handling isn't the easiest. Well worth the money and made me enjoy the drive all that much more.
2005 with 34ish k miles. Zero mechanical problems. I did have the tail light condensation though. Mazda has released a bulletin about it. They now offer a different style foam gasket you put around the lights. If you're not under warranty, it's gonna set you back at least 40 bucks though...
Yep. VERY easy to do.
Drop the glove box down and I believe it's two little twists to open the air box. Filter is right there and obvious. See if it needs replacing for yourself. My 8 is an 05 and the filter is still in new condition.
I do use the windows a lot though...
I have been using 5w20 for two years now. No issues. I do change the oil every 3k miles on the dot. Mobil 1 Full synthetic every single time.
After doing much reading, I will be switching to 5w30 when I use the last of this w20 I have laying around. My MPG sucks anyway. I doubt this will make...
