    Here's my final stereo plan.

Installing CDTs are pretty easy, as should most component systems. The hardest part is the adapter, but is easy as long as you take a little time to plan it out. If you decide to flush mount the tweets, just make sure you use the right set of tools and it will be a snap. My kit said you could...

    component install

    Ahhh, the price of luxury.....:D

    component install

I put my tweets in the door, about 4" above the stock grill. I played around with the tweets before I decided where to mount them (door off, just moving tweet around to where it sounded best.) Imaging was better when the tweet was in the sail, but the sound was too off axis for my taste (notes...

I can't take off the Oil Filter!!

I'm not reading thru this whole damn post, but FYI: If you ever have a lot of trouble getting a filter off (hands, socket, filter plyers don't work) you can impail the filter with a looong screwdriver, and pry that bastard off. Had to this once, only thing that would work. Just make sure you...

    Avionixx amps...

I've had one for about two months now and I must say I really like it. The power output is really nice from my 440.4. (75wrms @4ohm, 220wrms bridged) I was going for a budget SQ setup, and it worked well. It has more than enough power to drive my single 10" beyond what is enjoyable. (IMO, I...

running wires in a p5 (quick question)

Taking out the center console is extremely easy. 6 screws altogether I think (then 4 to release shifter on a man.) You then get to reach up all the way top the radio then as well. (Where the pocket used to be, don't have to pull glovebox then) On my PR5, I ran 4 ga power thru grommet on pass...

A couple more questions (i'm done now i swear)

I used the factory wiring, so I ran the amp spk wire up the dash, and connected it to the appropriate wires on my wiring warness (the one you buy to adapt to the factory plugs) Dont cut the factory wires, its just trouble. For the other end, I just used the spade style slip-on connectors to...

    CDT components?

I WOULD be listening to them now, but some bastards stole them off my doorstep after UPS stupidly left them there (a large condo complex, main sidewalk was 10 ft away!) Best part is, they are refusing to cover them as they are claiming they were delivered, and out of their responsibility. The...

    Crimping 4 gauge ring terminals!!

Hammer when outside, C-clamp when inside! For my power wire (batt side) I just pounded on the 4ga term w/ a hammer on the concrete floor. Easy. The hard part is the amp side of the power wire. I couldn't premeasure it exactly ( I like to keep it neat,) so I used a large C-clamp to crush the...

    Newbie install mess-ups (amp power)

Why use the seat bolt for ground? I'm a mid-level noob, and I just did an amp install. ( did a couple back in high-school, but looking back, it was a pretty hack job :D) Couple hints from my install: Hammer works great to get the 4ga ring terminal on. Measure your wires first (practical only...

    CDT components?

Check out Avionixx!! See here Not a big name brand yet, but an excellent amp at a very reasonable price. I bought a 440.4 (75W RMSx4 @4ohm, 220 bridged) and its absolutely great. Very powerful and clean. For $280 you can get a 600.4 ( ~110W RMSx4 @4ohm.) Read more about them at the elite car...

    Anyone in New york

Middletown? I live in Orange CO too I see quite a few p5's running around. I mostly see yellow ones, probably because they are the ez-ist to spot, but a number of others as well. Not so many that hey are common (ahem, civics..) but enough for a "brotherhood" :D

    Water in the doors?

How to protect from wtaer? How does this effect the installation of sound deadening? I was planning on an install in the near future and this issue concerns me. What have other people done to protect thier equipment, and if anyone has intalled sound deadening, do they have any helpful tips?
