    Ant's Cosmo

Another little update. Smoking has gone, suspect it was residual oil from the turbo pack being removed. Idle is still not as smooth as I'd like but better, will order new water and air temp sensors next and alternator and battery. Fixed the auto steering wheel on key insert/removal. Wires to...

    Ant's Cosmo

It's on hard run with plus 0.5 psi of boost. Definitely black/brown cloud out the back as things start approaching rapidly in front! I did all the same mods to my FD and never had this. Had a skyline fuel pump fitted and no regulator yet, wondering if even with the voltage drop on the oem wiring...

    Ant's Cosmo

Had the second lot of work above completed amongst a few other bits such tank cleaned out, new fuel pump... Having the stalling issue now at idle and blowing black smoke on idle but she isn't smelling rich. The rats nest and all unneccessaries are now cleaned off including the air pump. The...

    My 1990 JCESE Eunos Cosmo

You might find the TWS you have coming also has issues. I acquired 2 in addition to the one on the car and all 3 were bad. 2 had visibly dead capacitors on the board. The TWS is a weak point that has a big impact on the electrics so if things don't improve with the one you have coming I would...

    My 1990 JCESE Eunos Cosmo

Are you replacing just the 'fuse box' or the TWS unit that is connected to it also? If you have electrical gremlins and depending on what they are it could be your TWS unit needs a refresh. I had mine done and it fixed all the little gremlins I was having. Ant

    Alternator

I need to replace my current alternator. Aside from shipping a standard one from Japan did I read once an FD alternator can be used with the pulleys swapped out? Is it plug and play or is there work to make it fit? Cheers

Water temp sensor and fast reacting air temp sensor

Chaps, Like other rotaries I assume the stock water temp sensor fails over time giving the ECU incorrect readings? Which is the correct one to replace out of them all? :) Also I acquired the FD fast reacting IAT sensor (from the Ducati bikes) but the thread etc is completely different on...

Gearbox oil pipe running through the radiator

I went with a small trans cooler for now and also mounted on the ac condensor. Will keep an eye on things as I continue to progress with the car. Thanks for all the input.

    Ant's Cosmo

Thanks Rodneooo:- 1) Not traced for now but the connector I used definitely reduced the eye burning on idle! 2) Great. Now I can monitor water temp it does increase rapidly on load. I see it quickly rise from high 80s/low 90s to over 100 on the motorway and under boost. At what point should I...

Gearbox oil pipe running through the radiator

Frank - Yes I'm in the UK, quick work trip, fly out Sunday be back in a couple of weeks. As well as her few other additions she now has a 10 row transmission cooler to replace the cooper tube in the bottom of the rad. From Kramer's comments this was the safest and most sensible thing to do in...

Gearbox oil pipe running through the radiator

Had a few mins to poke around. Seems this is actually transmission oil cooler when its run through the bottom of a radiator like this. So why have this configuration and then flowing into the heat exchanger under the wing also? If the new radiator does not have this "cooler" running through the...

Gearbox oil pipe running through the radiator

Folks, Have been tinkering on the Cosmo - pics and details to follow - and came across an interesting aspect yesterday when fitting the new alloy radiator. It was 2 fittings along the bottom that came from the auto box, passed through the bottom of the stock rad and through the heat exchanged...
