I don't know about the starter, but restart is super smooth. And fast too, I believe it is one of, if not the, fastest restarts of any car.

Not knowing anything about which trims have it in the rest of the world, or even when they introduced it, on my car I can check it in the apps section on the screen, under fuel consumption. It shows the status of both of these functions.

I am well aware of the dimensions of rims vs rubber, I was comparing the smaller wheels on the Volvo to the bigger wheels on the Mazda, irregardless of rim size. However, you are wrong about the weight. In fact, my CX-5 is a few kilograms heavier.

That's probably the case, the car handles extremely well for a crossover, and the grip is beyond expectations thanks to the overall tyre size. Compared to my old Volvo V70 it's a no-contest in all aspects save ride comfort, and that is without so much of a hint of the awd actually kicking in...

Actually, the LEd's emit far less heat than any other system. However, the base of the lamp (the electronics) generate a bit of heat, so the cooling system is to prevent damage to the adjacent wiring etc in the back. Or at least this is my understanding of it.

Haha, that's right. And I do find the manual somewhat ambigous on autodisengagement, in one paragraph it says to make sure you disengage the epb by hand before driving, and then a page or two down it says that you can either disengage manually or let it automagically do it for you as you drive off.

I am pretty sure that most epb's are safer in that respect than their mechanical counterparts as they usually work with the anti-lock braking system, as the electronics are integrated. I will check with the owner's manual later.

I tested the epb again yesterday, and must correct myself. You don't have to push the pedal very much, at least not to the point where you risk jumping forward with the car when it disengages.

Well, the dealer had fixed that, so they're inflated as per the sticker on the door post. I suppose it's the rim size then (and/or Toyo brand), will be very interesting to try out the winter tyres come november, being 17" Yokohama's. Would have preferred Nokian's, but they came free with the car.
