    i-Eloop and i-Stop / fuel consumption

Well, after almost amonth of driving with i-Stop I have to say it's a pretty good thing. I am amazed over how much time I spend idling in traffic, even though I never think about it. Anyhow, the only thing that really annoys me is when I park the car, and i-Stop kicks in. When I put the...

    black cloth interior too hot?

Wow, I have heard many arguments against leather interior, but that it smells horribly of chemicals is a first.

    black cloth interior too hot?

I have tried both cloth and leather in the CX-5 (2016), and the leather beats the cloth hands down. Didn't want the white leather though, so I went for black. And to my suprise, the perforated leather feels a lot cooler than I expected, even after standing in direct sunlight. At first I almost...

    i-Eloop and i-Stop / fuel consumption

Would seem so, yes: http://www2.mazda.com/en/technology/env/i-stop/ In any regard, I find it smother and faster than the VW equivalent I tested in a Passat last year.

    i-Eloop and i-Stop / fuel consumption

I don't know about the starter, but restart is super smooth. And fast too, I believe it is one of, if not the, fastest restarts of any car.

    i-Eloop and i-Stop / fuel consumption

Not knowing anything about which trims have it in the rest of the world, or even when they introduced it, on my car I can check it in the apps section on the screen, under fuel consumption. It shows the status of both of these functions.

    i-Eloop and i-Stop / fuel consumption

So, after a month of owning a CX-5 the car spent a day at the dealership. The problem was that i-Eloop and i-Stop never worked at all, and the rather weak explanation I got after they fixed it was that it was a software issue of some sort. Anywho, holy cow does it make a difference on the fuel...

    New car - first impressions

I am well aware of the dimensions of rims vs rubber, I was comparing the smaller wheels on the Volvo to the bigger wheels on the Mazda, irregardless of rim size. However, you are wrong about the weight. In fact, my CX-5 is a few kilograms heavier.

    New car - first impressions

That's probably the case, the car handles extremely well for a crossover, and the grip is beyond expectations thanks to the overall tyre size. Compared to my old Volvo V70 it's a no-contest in all aspects save ride comfort, and that is without so much of a hint of the awd actually kicking in...

    New car - first impressions

Well, sorta, but you would get into the very basic entry level of said brands. When I built a Volvo XC60 on their website to the exact specs of my CX-5, I landed on a pricetag of $56.000, which is quite the jump from $39.000 I paid for my car. I would not mind spending another grand or two to...

    New Owner in KC

Actually, the LEd's emit far less heat than any other system. However, the base of the lamp (the electronics) generate a bit of heat, so the cooling system is to prevent damage to the adjacent wiring etc in the back. Or at least this is my understanding of it.

    electric parking brake

Haha, that's right. And I do find the manual somewhat ambigous on autodisengagement, in one paragraph it says to make sure you disengage the epb by hand before driving, and then a page or two down it says that you can either disengage manually or let it automagically do it for you as you drive off.

    electric parking brake

I am pretty sure that most epb's are safer in that respect than their mechanical counterparts as they usually work with the anti-lock braking system, as the electronics are integrated. I will check with the owner's manual later.

I tested the epb again yesterday, and must correct myself. You don't have to push the pedal very much, at least not to the point where you risk jumping forward with the car when it disengages.

    New car - first impressions

Well, the dealer had fixed that, so they're inflated as per the sticker on the door post. I suppose it's the rim size then (and/or Toyo brand), will be very interesting to try out the winter tyres come november, being 17" Yokohama's. Would have preferred Nokian's, but they came free with the car.

    New car - first impressions

Come to think of it, maybe part of the problem are the stock Toyo tires. Anyone put on another brand and noticed any difference in road noise and/or ride comfort? *Edit* I have completely forgotten to check tyre pressure, they may have over-inflated them. Will check on that later.

Actually, the epb disengages automatically when you step on the gas pedal. But you have to push a little harder than you would want to if you are parked between two cars, so in that case you need to flip the switch by hand. Myself, I love the epb, and do not miss the mechanical pb whatsoever...

    New car - first impressions

Yeah, why do they have different options available for different countries? I though the whole point of having just a few trims with no possibility of customization was to keep the production costs down to a minimum, but when the trims vary so much between markets one would think that it should...

    New car - first impressions

According to Mazda (although they claim it's now more comfortble) and a lot of reviewers there is a difference, but I suppose it is so slight it's difficult to really tell. I do find the ride a bit bumpy though, so it will be interesting to try out the winter tyres next fall, as they are 17", to...

    New car - first impressions

Yeah, but the trim comes with the 19", and it's not optional. And they do look sweet. I have also read that the changes made to the suspension on the facelift makes the ride slightly more bumpy. Didn't test drive the old model side-by-side though, so I can't really say if there's a difference or...
