Is this the FMIC you were talking about?

Ok, So I just went ahead and re-did the gauge fittings and everything for the boost gauge. It seems to be working correctly now. The car hits about 5.5-6 pounds of boost consistently. I just want to thank everyone for their input and info. He told me to start looking of intake, exhaust for now...
He was running completely stock with no gauge or MBC. Apparently the turbo started leaking oil really bad while he was driving on the interstate. No oil in the motor equals thrown rod and hole in the block. We weren't tuning or doing anything to the car. It was his DD.
He hardly ever pushes the motor hard on his cars. He just wants something that on the rare occasion he puts his foot to the floor, it'll put a smile on his face. Wideband is def something I will make sure he gets. That's usually one of the first upgrades I do on my cars. As far as checking...
My brother just wants to run a safe amount of boost for now. He plans on just doing a few bolt ons such as intake, exhaust, and possibly either a upgraded stock intercooler with hard pipes or full FMIC. It's his daily driver so he's not looking to put a ton of money into it. So would 7 psi be...
I did check to make sure the arm was hooked up and it is. As for verifying it's working how would I go about doing that? I really appreciate your help.
I have read quite a bit about these motors and how they can't handle much boost in stock form. And since he already threw a rod once on stock turbo and boost at 28k miles I don't want to push this one. I'm just trying to get the turbo to run stock boost.
Car is bone stock and it just a boost gauge so I cant see if there is any vacuum. But as of right now no the car isn't reading any boost. And I do appreciate the info on the turboXS MBC.
I do but I'm obviously no expert and I meant while driving it I was letting the motor rev up before shifting. Sorry should have been more detailed. Also here is the link to the other thread that has the pictures of how the MBC and boost gauge are hooked up...
This shows the T just before the BOV? that goes into the side of the MBC(the side with the arrow).
And this shows the T from the line going into the intake manifold going to the boost gauge.
