    Kayaking and the CX-5

Rather than start a new thread, I'll try to get the answers here - I did not get roof rails on my CX-5. after swapping out our previous "trip" car for a smaller car, the CX-5 will become the one that we use to transport the kayak. I thought going with foam blocks would make sense, but I'm used...

CX5 Air Conditioning and Hot Weather

I may be wrong, but I believe that the sport versions do not have rear vents. I have no clue if the fan our output varies, but I don't believe there is any air getting pumped directly to the rear part of the cabin. Not saying it has a negative impact, but it might be a consideration.

    how far past zero range?

isn't it good enough to know that you have about 50-60 miles? I've gone over quite a few times and have had about 2 gallons left. 28 MPG is around 56 miles.

    New CX-5 Headunit Master Thread

I haven't found a solution. But the unit I bought has a special apple 30 pin connector that I plug into anyway. I think with the right HU, you might be able to splice into the wiring to the armrest to make it functional again, but I'm not really sure. It'd require pulling the panels around...

    New CX-5 Headunit Master Thread

I'd recommend not upgrading the head unit if you get the touch screen version. You'd be sacrificing some significant functionality that can only be had on the OEM unit (car settings, arm rest USB and AUX. And you might have difficulty with the bluetooth mic, though I'm not sure about that)...

    how far past zero range?

I've filled up 5 times and almost every time I waited until range of 0 and a little beyond. The most I've put in my tank is 12.84 gallons. Mine is the FWD with the 14.8 gallon tank.

    Center dash speaker slot

I had the same set up but replaced the head unit with one that has bluetooth. It is my understanding that most units that support bluetooth silence the rest of the audio when on a call, so it isn't like you'd have a dedicated speaker for hands free. I did end up putting the microphone in that...

    New CX-5 Likes/Dislikes

Some minor complaints (2014 sport): Rear doors don't seem to swing closed very smoothly Slight buzzing sound when pressing the gas pedal - only audible at low speeds Audio turns off when you turn the engine off (some vehicles wait until you open the door) Audio controls on steering wheel do...

Problem with front passenger air bag detector

I wonder if you could add 10# of something to the seat without affecting the comfort too much. Maybe hang something off the bottom of the seat to help offset the problem?

    2014 Mazda CX-5 vs 2013 Ford Escape

We have both in our family. My wife's is a company car so cost was not a factor. The rated MPG is not happening on the Ford. We average 22 with some longer drives mixed in. I've never gotten close to the 30 they rate for highway - I think I saw 26 when I reset it for a single long highway...

Changing settings for Sport drivers without the touch screen

So I'm confused, is this connecting to the headunit somehow? What is the M-MDS and the DLC-2 (a google search for DLC-2 suggests it might be a mini prep Cuisinart. I somehow doubt that is really what I'm looking for)? Are these settings accessible if a new head unit is installed? EDIT: A...

Changing settings for Sport drivers without the touch screen

For those of us who do not have the pretty touch screen interface stereo, there seem to be some settings that are not available to us. A recent thread about the tap to blink 3 times turn signal was one of the settings that would require a trip to the dealer to change. Any others that we should...

Ah, good old apple. It looks like all of Pioneer's 2013 lineup includes an (expensive) option to get Iphone 5 compatible.

    "Lifetime" limited powertrain warranty

I'm in the Twin Cities as well. I bought from Morrie's. It is my understanding that you have to comply and document the recommended service provided by Mazda. You do NOT have to do the service at Morrie's. I believe Walser is the same. The fine print lists the parts that it covers and I'm...
