ok let's work on the idea that MAYBE i did muck around with it. I started noticing the knob doesn't work as it's supposed to after I detached the console face plate in attempt to remove the radio. That was before I realized I did not have to remove the face in oder to get the radio out...

well, the first pdf says "the first thing you do is remove the little side panels on the sides of the units fact to expose the holes which the tools fit into...." Currently I have the entire face hanging off, because I couldn't seem to separate the side panels from the entire panel. Any idea...

great oden's raven!! thanks you! The second pdf may be a little unnecessary for what I need to do. My mechanic removed the radio without having to go into the glove box. I just don't remember exactly what he did.
