shane's got it. You can actually use lysol (or any anti-fungal disinfectant) in to the vent right at the bottom of the windshield and blast the a/c for a twenty min or so.

No the A/c has never been on sinsce I bought the car (1/1/05). It is definetly mildew and stagnent water. I would speculate that (having dealt with mold in construction) that there is not alot of water, more like high humidity that can't escape

lol, No I am not driving off road or through foot deep puddles and certainly not in the habit of sucking water up. But I am just worried about a constant barrage of water on the filter itself. Especially the awful liquid CaCl s*** they spray on the highway in winter to melt snow.
