If the plugs aren't it, then try the coil.

Bob, The Mazda dealership replaced the catalytic conveter under warranty, which would have cost me just over a grand otherwise. I also had the coil replaced, which was the cause of the random misfire, and a tune-up done. Andy

I had the exact same problem with Protege, which is the exact same eveything as Stieh101, about this time last year. I had to pay out the wazoo to have all 4 injectors replaced.
