    Coolant questions for 2014 CX-5

I bought 2 gallons of the original Mazda FL-22 coolant and then watched a YouTube video but still deciding if I should just top off the low coolant or actually drain and fill. 1. Do I need to measure how much I drained to be able to put the same amount + some more? Can I not tell how much I...

    Coolant questions for 2014 CX-5

It is 55% - 45% mix of water and other compounds like alcohol etc. So yeah does have about half water

Got it. I think this doesn't sound too difficult. I will try to flush it as well by filling with distilled water and running the engine and draining it again. And then fill with either FL-22 or another third-party one that is listed as a replacement. Thank you.

Was it hard to drain from the radiator?

    Coolant questions for 2014 CX-5

Would you say that I must flush? I don't think I have a leak anyways as it has been 100K miles and only now the level is low (probably slow burn and evaporation over 10 years). In that case, can I just buy 2 gallons and drain and add new? Or just add 1 gallon new and no need to drain?

    Coolant questions for 2014 CX-5

Oh I did. And on Advance Auto, Rock Auto, Zoro, and other sites. Only Ebay has some. Amazon has third-party FL-22 replacements which will imply that I have to flush and can't just drain and add new.

    Coolant questions for 2014 CX-5

Thanks all for your replies. I don't think I want to do the flush - seems more work that I think I will be able to do correctly. i.e., I am not confident that I can drain, install the plug, pour distilled water, run the engine, drain again and so forth. I am thinking of just draining and...

    Coolant questions for 2014 CX-5

I got oil change for my 2014 CX-5 Touring recently at a local service shop (not Mazda). The tech told me that the coolant was low and that it is time for coolant service. My car is 3 months short of 10 years and has 106K miles on it in California. I am handy around the house but haven't worked...

2013~2016 2014 CX-5 Touring (2.5L) has hiccup and no longer smooth in slow traffic

Thanks all. I am humbled with just a supportive and welcoming community. The tranny doesn't feel off. Feels more like engine - like a bit sticky gas pedal. I am handy around the house and have worked on minor electronics and computer repair but nothing big. Never worked on cars before other...

2013~2016 2014 CX-5 Touring (2.5L) has hiccup and no longer smooth in slow traffic

I do try to use top tier Shell most of the time but at least 20% of the times it will be some generic pump due to long distance travel or something which happened to be near when I needed gas. Is there a fuel injector cleaner service that I should ask the mechanic or just throttle body cleanup...

2013~2016 2014 CX-5 Touring (2.5L) has hiccup and no longer smooth in slow traffic

Thanks a bunch. Is that something that I can debug or do I go to a mechanic and ask them to check these? How do I know about vacuum leak etc.? Thanks.

2013~2016 2014 CX-5 Touring (2.5L) has hiccup and no longer smooth in slow traffic

Thanks. Actually that is what I meant by "air filter" when I wrote "air, cabin filters", The air was the engine air filter. I did get a brand-new OEM from Mazda dealer and installed it myself.

2013~2016 2014 CX-5 Touring (2.5L) has hiccup and no longer smooth in slow traffic

My 2014 CX-5 has 70K miles. I have only ever changed oil and air, cabin filters along with tires and wipers. No other work done (good job Mazda)! However, now the car doesn't feel smooth. It seems to jerk and lunge forward in stop-n-go traffic especially even after engine is warm. I press the...

2014 Touring FWD doesn't run smooth

It seems that there is some improvement. The Techron + revv'ing the engine high seems to have improved - perhaps it is placebo effect but my ride to kids' school, work and grocery etc. felt smoother and less stickiness/hiccup. It wasn't too bad earlier and the improvement might be slight but I...
