I replaced the speakers before the HU, and doing that is definitely enough for a casual listener. I threw in my old HU mainly for Bluetooth and calling, and it does sound better with the replaced HU, but the speaker upgrade was more effective for me.

Which ultragauge do you have, and what do you think about it? I just discovered them and I am very interested in getting one now.

I am bone stock minus the Corksport Rear Bar. I average around 37-38, and I recently got 41 on a long trip.

I am having the same problem on my Speed Protege. I haven't tried plugs yet, fingers crossed that is what it is. But, i do get the bucking at 3000rpm too. If you figure it out it would be great if you could post your solution.

So I planned on replacing the shifter bushings (corksport bronze-oil) this morning and I was not able to remove the heat shield above the exhaust. One bolt came out fine and the others just spun freely. Any suggestions on how I could get it off?

I do want to keep it as close to the original silver as possible but I think that is a better way to go. Thanks for the ideas, Ill post pictures when I'm done.
