Brake pedal all of a sudden is rock hard

Have a 2013 Grand Touring with 90K miles. Brake pedal all of a sudden is rock hard. Takes all my force to get car to stop. Master cylinder or Booster?

Is this a common problem? Is a Mazda part best or will a good aftermarket be ok. Of course this happens right before vacation.

Most likely the master. A good aftermarket one is fine.

maybe not... read the thread I linked and you'll see the other guy tried aftermarket ones... all had issues

And? All parts can have issues. I've been in the parts biz for over 35 years. The return/warranty ratio on good quality jobber parts is very low when you look at total sales. Dealer parts still have their fair share of issues.
