What imn looking at is definately a wire wound inductor connected tot he cone...but I cant tell where it is connected too..either the tweets or the woofer cone... I can tell you almost with certainty that there is a filter on the woofer...I know from experience that 9 in cones can achieve much deeper bass than is being allowed by the Excelon Dual Mag 6x9 unit. i installed basic Kenwood 7inch cone 2 ways in a Dodge Stealth earlier this week and that cone reached a lower octave than the 6x9 did....and the 6x9 is made with 3x the quality of standard Kenwood cones. I actually do belive that what im looking at attached to the 6x9 is indeed a high pass filter that was sautered on mabey to save Kenwood the cost of external, boxed crossovers that are standard with their Dual Mag Series ( the kind that came with the mp3). Im just damn near afraid to remove it though...because what it its not =-D....Dual Mag series Speakers arent cheap1st MP3 in NH said:There is no crossover for the woofer of the 6x9 just the tweeter which is simply a capacitor on the speaker. The woofer if memory serves is full range. Basicly it will natural role off with higher notes so need for one their. This is common on inexpensive coaxles.
