PTU Gear Oil Change...Trouble ahead?

Hi everyone. I've read this forum many times, first for my 2010 CX-9, and now my 2012. Thanks to Avidien, I tackled changing out the transaxle oil this weekend. The good news was that the fluid in there was not the black sludge so many have reported. It was more like used motor oil in color; a coffee-brown. The plug had also obviously been taken out and replaced before, so I'm hopeful that indicates decent maintenance before me (bought it used in August).

I was concerned with some oil I saw near the transmission; photo attached. It's clearly old and very grimy (I actually did 2 changes for the PTU; one Saturday and again today after about 150 miles). There was no"new" oil in the transmission area (i.e., nothing slick and glistening or thin). Any thoughts or concerns about what I'm seeing? TIA.

could be lots of things like rear main seal or axles seals. You will need to clean it up and monitor to see what is leaking. If it's not a big leak, i would leave it like that, check transmission level from time to time and clean the leak every oil change or so.

Thanks for the advice! Just hoping it's not a PTU issue
